Message From The 2015 President
Like the weather we’ve been experiencing this winter, your Edmonton Board of Directors has undergone many changes recently. Thanks to the efforts last year of Past President Lori Lacey, we have a robust board in 2015, made up of eleven board members! That’s a significant difference from last year. Because the majority of us are brand new to the board and our roles, we have taken time at the front end of the year to ensure we are clear in our mandate and our short term and strategic goals, so that we can best serve the Edmonton Chapter membership in 2015 and beyond.
One of the most important sources of information for our planning is the results of the Edmonton 2014 membership survey. You will find the survey results on the website: Membership Survey Summary. We are very grateful for the information that you generously provided to us last summer, and we have used it in developing plans for the Chapter for 2015.
The survey responses revealed that two things are most important for Chapter members: professional development that provides CCEUs, and the opportunity to network with other coaches. Your opinions were split for almost all other questions, with varying preferences regarding when, where, and how often the events are held. As a result, we know we won’t be able to please everyone with scheduling. We hope to create a valuable and interesting line-up of events for 2015 that will incent you to make attending a priority!
With regards to speakers and topics, we know there is an incredible amount of knowledge and expertise on coaching related topics within our community. We would like to showcase our local talent, and I invite you to consider making a presentation on YOUR area of expertise to the membership. There are many benefits to being a featured presenter at an Edmonton event: becoming better known for your expertise, making connections with the coaching community, gaining practice at public speaking (with a friendly and supportive audience!), and of course, CCEU credits.
We would like to publish our line-up for 2015 with dates, topics, and locations as soon as possible, so that you can add chapter events into your calendar well in advance. If you would like to be a featured speaker at an event this year, or have a suggestion of someone with expertise in an area that would be of interest to our community, please connect with our Programming Director Wendy Rabel, at email@example.com – Wendy is planning to add both networking and educational events to our 2015 calendar very soon!
In the meantime, we are looking forward to mixing & mingling with coach colleagues at our first event of the year, our Networking Spring Mixer to be held on Tuesday March 17, 5:30-8:30 pm at Café Tiramisu, 10750 124 Street, Edmonton. Please register soon, and come to enjoy a snack and talk coaching!
